Exploring Innovations in Smart Cities and Mobility in Italy

During CW20, FDTech had the incredible opportunity to join a delegation from the Ministry for Economic Affairs of Saxony, led by Mr. Martin Dulig, on a visit to the Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna regions in Italy.

Our colleague Andrea, site lead of FDTech Munich, was part of the delegation. The trip, organized by the Italian/German Chamber of Commerce, focused on the vibrant topics of Smart Cities and Mobility.

Germany and Italy share a robust economic relationship, with Germany being Italy's top commercial partner and Italy ranking fifth for Germany. This visit underscored the deep connections between our economies and opened doors for future collaborations.

Our journey began in Milan, where we witnessed the transformation of neighborhoods into sustainable and green spaces. We then visited Brembo, a leading braking components manufacturer, and Siemens Italy, a key player in the smart buildings industry. Both companies showcased their cutting-edge developments and innovative approaches to technology and sustainability.

One of the highlights for FDTech was our visit to the renowned #MotorValley in Emilia. We explored the #MUNER (Motor Vehicle University), a unique consortium of universities and industry giants like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Ducati, offering advanced programs in autonomous mobility. We also visited Hipert, a spin-off focused on autonomous driving solutions.

Our journey culminated with visits to the luxury automotive manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and the BI-REX Competence Center, a hub for advanced robotic production systems and 3D printing. These visits provided invaluable insights into the craftsmanship and technological advancements driving the industry forward.

The trip was filled with inspiring moments and potential opportunities for collaboration. At FDTech, we are excited to explore these new avenues and continue our mission to innovate in the field of mobility.
