Learning from Each Other: FDTech at "tech & trends // KI kompakt" in Chemnitz

Sharing knowledge, learning from one another, and thinking ahead together – that is exactly what we are committed to. And few occasions embody this spirit as well as "tech & trends // KI kompakt," which recently brought the region's AI community together at die fabrik chemnitz.
Our colleague Julian Dietzsch represented FDTech GmbH at the event, joined by Lukas, Dustin, and Anke from our team. What made this edition particularly special is that, for the first time, it was organized entirely from within the regional AI roundtable, the "KI-Stammtisch," together with SELLIUM GmbH. That is a powerful sign of just how much expertise, drive, and creative energy can grow from a single idea when a regional community takes ownership of it.
We were glad to actively contribute to that energy. Julian gave two talks and brought our know-how directly into the conversation. The first, developed together with Tobias Kluge of AUO Mobility Solutions, explored the world of AI inference, looking beyond the hype to the hardware and the technical background that actually make it work. The second turned to a question that is currently reshaping our field: whether coding agents and so-called vibe coding represent the future of software development. Especially on this topic, it became clear how we at FDTech don't just discuss the possibilities of modern AI. We put them into practice and develop them further in forward-looking ways.
The remaining talks impressively demonstrated just how diverse the AI expertise in our region really is. Angelina Probst of Laboklin explored why resistance to AI adoption isn't a bug but something deeply human, while Max Rose offered a clear-eyed look at the limits of the current AI hype. Dr. Christian Lohse of Sellium GmbH examined when AI truly pays off for small and medium-sized enterprises, complete with a total-cost-of-ownership model, and Felix Pflugbeil of ibes AG approached AI compliance from an SME perspective. Paul Wolff of VRketing GmbH rounded out the programme with a look at multimodal edge AI for devices. Taken together, the talks painted a vivid picture of a regional AI landscape that is both broad and remarkably practical.
The evening closed at the rooftop bar, where there was plenty of room for honest conversations, fresh impulses, and valuable networking. It is precisely this kind of professional exchange across company boundaries that moves us all forward.
Our thanks go to the AI roundtable and to Sellium for organizing such a worthwhile event, and to Julian for representing FDTech so well. We are already looking forward to the next opportunity to share, to learn, and to think ahead together.
