From the Classroom to Autonomous Driving: FDTech Welcomes International Students

Inspiring the next generation of MINT talent is close to our hearts at FDTech and it doesn't stop at school career fairs. We also love welcoming delegations directly to our offices to give them hands-on insights into how we work and what makes the world of autonomous driving so fascinating. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting some very special international guests.
This week, we welcomed some very special guests to FDTech.
Eight French students from Lycée Saint Joseph La Salle in Lorient are currently in Germany on a student exchange program and are visiting the Berufliches Schulzentrum für Technik III – Richard-Hartmann-Schule Chemnitz in Saxony.
Why Promoting MINT Talent Matters to Us
At FDTech, engaging with young people is more than a nice gesture. It's an investment in the future of our region and our industry. Whether at school career fairs like beWhatever or through in-house visits like this one, we want to spark curiosity for MINT subjects (mathematics, IT, natural sciences, and technology) and show young people the exciting career paths that autonomous driving and intelligent mobility can offer.
For a region like Saxony, inspiring the next generation of engineers, developers, and problem-solvers is essential. These are the people who will shape the technologies of tomorrow and we're proud to give them a first glimpse of what that future might look like.
A Mix of Getting to Know Us and Hands-On Technology
When we host delegations, we aim for a balanced experience. On one hand, we share who we are: our company history, our values, and how we work day to day. On the other hand, we open the door to the technical world of autonomous driving. A field that is often abstract until you can actually see and experience it.
The Highlight: Live Demonstrations with PixKit
Particularly exciting for our young guests was the chance to see real autonomous driving functions in action. With our research and demonstration vehicle PixKit, we can bring theory to life — showcasing capabilities such as follow-the-leader driving, pedestrian detection, and more, live and up close.
There's a big difference between reading about autonomous systems and watching them respond to the real world in real time. Moments like these turn curiosity into genuine enthusiasm. And that's exactly what we hope to achieve.
Our colleague Klaus Krumbiegel introduced the students to the world of autonomous driving and answered their questions about the German vocational world and careers in our field.
We would like to thank our guests very much for their interest and wish them continued exciting and insightful experiences in Saxony and beyond.
