Where Politics Meets Autonomous Mobility: FDTech at the Saxony State Press Conference's Summer Party

Real technology, real conversations, real questions: At this year's summer party of the Saxony State Press Conference, FDTech GmbH once again brought autonomous driving out of the abstract and into the tangible. And this time, we did so in a very special way.

A Familiar Stage – With a New Dimension

For the second year running, we were delighted to be part of this established gathering. Traditionally, the event takes place on the Monday evening of the last plenary week, just before the parliamentary summer recess – a relaxed setting that invites open dialogue between politics, media, and industry.

The venue, the historic Sommersaloppe in Dresden with its charming curiosities from days gone by, created a wonderful contrast to what we had parked right in the middle of it: the RoboBus from PIX Moving.

From Concept to Cockpit: Making Autonomous Driving Tangible

What set this year apart was our set-up. Rather than talking about autonomous driving, we let our guests step inside it.

Right within the RoboBus, our CFO Marcus Wilsdorf and Alexander Kovalenko (staff-eye GmbH) led numerous discussions on the current challenges of the technology. This hands-on environment allowed us to give politicians and media representatives a genuine, first-hand impression of our development work – and to illustrate the real-world deployment scenarios that autonomous driving already enables today.

The conversations reflected just how multifaceted the topic is. Whether technical hurdles, legal questions, or ethical considerations – the interests of our guests spanned the full spectrum. Among those joining the discussions throughout the evening were Marcel Ott, Sarah Schubert, Nicole Haberkorn, Sydygaly Sagynbaev, and Felicia Kollinger-Walter.

The Message to Policymakers: Set the Course

Being inside a real autonomous vehicle made one point especially clear – and easy to address directly: the technological know-how is here. What we now need is the right framework to bring it into practical application.

Approval procedures, the legal environment, and clear regulatory pathways will determine how quickly and how broadly this expertise can be deployed for the benefit of society. In other words: technology alone is not the bottleneck. Politics holds a decisive lever in setting the course for autonomous mobility – and an evening in direct conversation with decision-makers is exactly the right place to say so.

Stronger Together: The Value of the CADA Network

Our guests were particularly interested in another aspect of our approach: collaboration. Autonomous driving is not a challenge any single company solves alone. That is why the cooperation among a diverse range of technology companies within the CADA – Chemnitz Automated Driving Alliance and its partner network resonated so strongly.

Partnerships like the one with staff-eye GmbH demonstrate why this collaborative model is both important and right: it is precisely this pooling of complementary expertise that moves the topic forward and turns capability into real deployment.

We would like to thank Die Sportwerk GmbH for another round of excellent collaboration and flawless organization, as well as the members of the State Press Conference for this wonderful evening.

Our thanks also go to the teams at Saloppe Dresden and Schmiedelandhaus for the summery dessert buffet that rounded off the evening perfectly.

We look forward to continuing these conversations – and to turning shared insights into shared progress.
